Glip's Telephony Service allows RingCentral Office Users to use Glip Desktop and Mobile for placing and receiving calls, view voicemail and fax messages, send or receive text messages, and listen to call recordings. When enabled for the account, the Phone tab will be available for Users to place outgoing calls and manage messages and call recordings.

NOTE: To utilize this feature, the account Administrator must enable the telephony service on Glip. Once enabled, all Users must restart or sign out and in of all Glip apps to gain access to this functionality. For more information, visit Glip Telephony Overview.

Initial set up for Glip's Phone


There are 2 possible scenarios for Glip Phone's initial set up. Click on the applicable links below: 
 
1. If you are an existing Glip Desktop User, click here

2. If this is your 1st time to use Glip Desktop / log in to Glip Desktop, click here


Existing Users

If you are signed in to Glip Desktop, you will see an announcement that the Administrator has enabled the phone and SMS features for your account. A restart link is provided on the announcement. Simply click on restart to automatically sign out and in of the app.

After restart, Glip will advise you to confirm your emergency address to enable outbound phone calls. Click Confirm address to proceed.

On a pop-up screen, you will be asked to confirm or update the address of your physical location. This address helps ensure emergency response teams can locate you in the case of emergency. An Edit button is provided to update the Address. Click CONFIRM once done.

First time Users

If this is your 1st time to log in to Glip Desktop, click Set up your phone.

Click CONTINUE.

The next screen will ask you to confirm or update the address of your physical location. This address helps ensure emergency response teams can locate you in the case of emergency. An Edit button is provided to update the Address. Click CONFIRM once done.

Setup is complete. Click OK to close the pop-up screen.

Navigating the Phone tab


The Phone tab is added to Glip Desktop when the telephony service is enabled.

The Phone tab also indicates the number of unread messages.

Inside the Phone tab, the following sections are available: 

Glip Phone - This section allows you to place an outgoing call. For details, go to Placing a call through Glip.

Tabs: 


Voicemail - This tab gives you the option to search and listen to your Voicemail messages. 
Calls - This tab allows you to search and view your recent calls.
Faxes - This tab lets you search and view your received fax messages faxes.
Recordings - This tab lets you search and listen to your recorded calls.

Placing a call through Glip


There are two (2) ways to place a call through Glip, Placing a call through contacts or Placing a call through the Phone tab.
 

Placing a call through contacts

 
Under People, select the contact that you want to call, and then click the Phone icon on the upper right corner.

The Active Call screen will be displayed.

Placing a call through the Phone tab

 
Go to the Phones tab,and then click the Dialer icon.

Enter in the name or phone number you wish to call.

Select a Caller ID under Call From:.

Click on the Phone icon to complete the call.

Sending a text message through Glip


When the Telephone Service is enabled, Glip lets you send a Text message to a contact at a time. 

Create a New Conversation

Click Send Text

Enter the contact's Name or Number, and the click CONTINUE

Type your message, and then hit Enter or Return on your keyboard.
