1. What is Glip Telephony?

Glip Telephony allows Users in your RingCentral Office account to use Glip desktop and mobile apps for calls, voicemails and text messages. When enabled for the account, all Users in the account will be able to use the telephony functionality.

2. Key Features

• Make and receive phone calls
• Manage active calls (Mute, Transfer, Flip, Park, etc.)
• Send and receive text SMS / MMS messages
• View call logs, Play voicemails
• View received faxes ( For Glip desktop app ONLY)


3. Availability

• The feature is OFF by default. Only Glip Administrators can enable Glip Telephony for the account.
• Users MUST be authenticated with a RingCentral Office account and not a free Glip account.
• Users will have to restart or sign out and in all Glip apps to gain access to this functionality.


4. Supported Platforms

• Glip.com (Chrome browser only)
• Glip desktop app (Windows and Mac)
• Glip for iOS 
• Glip for Android    

NOTE: Glip for iOS and Android need to have the version 4.13 of the RingCentral Glip app installed.


5. Limitations

Some functions from RingCentral Phone may not yet be available:

On Glip.com and Glip desktop app

• Phone conferencing
• Create/send a fax
• HUD /supervisor features
• Join Now
• Cloud Contacts
• Google Contacts
• Windows / Mac Contacts
• Presence: Do-not-disturb, Busy
• Call Queue Calls

On Glip for iOS and for Android

• RingOut (calls over carrier network)
• Fax
• Cloud Contacts
• Block Caller 
• Presence: Do-not-disturb, Busy
• Call Queue Calls


6. How to enable

Glip Administrators can enable the feature on Glip.com or on Glip desktop with the following steps:

1. Click on the drop-down menu and select Administration.

2. On the Administration page, toggle the button beside Enable telephony service? under Company Settings to enable.

User announcement on Glip.com and Desktop

Users will see an announcement on Glip.com and on the desktop app. Users must reload their browser to see the Phone tab and to use the telephony and SMS functionality.

Users will see a What’s New screen on their Glip mobile app.

Users will also see two screens for Emergency Services Disclaimer acknowledgment and an option on how to receive incoming calls on your mobile device.
