The RingCentral Mobile App allows you place and receive VoIP calls from an Android or iOS device. This article will teach you how to place VoIP calls from your RingCentral Mobile App.

IMPORTANT: Make sure to enable VoIP Calling on your RingCentral Mobile App before placing a VoIP call. For more information about VoIP calling, go to Overview of VoIP Calling on the RingCentral Mobile App.

You can place a VoIP Call from the following sections on your RingCentral Mobile App.

Place a VoIP call from the Dial Pad
Place a VoIP call to your Personal, Company or Favorite Contact
Return a call from the Call Log section
Return a call from the Messages section

Place a VoIP call from the Dial Pad

To place a VoIP call from the RingCentral Mobile App's Dial pad, follow the steps below:

Tap Keypad. You will be able to see the Dial pad where you can enter the number that you wish to call.

If you have multiple phone numbers assigned to your extension, select your preferred Caller ID from the drop-down list.

Tap the Call button when you are ready to place the call.

NOTE: When you place a call, you might get a pop-up asking you to Switch to RingOut. For more information, go to Smart Recommendation: Switch to RingOut.

Place a VoIP call to your Personal, Company or Favorite Contact

To place a call to your Personal, Company, or Favorite Contact, follow the steps below.

Step 1:

Tap the Contacts button.

Step 3: 

Tap on the drop-down arrow to view All Contacts, your Company Contacts, Personal Contacts, or Favorite Contacts.

Step 4: 

Tap the name of the contact that you wish to call and then, tap the Call button next to the contact's phone number to initiate a call.

NOTE: When you place a call, you might get a pop-up asking you to Switch to RingOut. For more information, go to Smart Recommendation: Switch to RingOut.

Favorite Contact

Step 1: 

Step 2: 

Tap Contacts.

Tap the Call button next to the Favorite contact that you wish to call.

Return a call from the Call Log section

To call a number from the Call Log section of your RingCentral Mobile App, follow the steps below.

Tap Keypad and then, the User-added image button.

Step 3:

Tap a Call Log entry to immediately place a call.

You can also tap on the Contact Info button and then select which number to call.

Return a call from the Messages section

Tap  to view your Voice message User-added image, Fax message User-added image, or Text message User-added image. On the message details, you will have the option to tap the Call button, to call the number of the person who sent the message.

Smart Recommendation: Switch to RingOut

The RingCentral Mobile App has an automatic pre-call network or internet quality detection. If the RingCentral Mobile App detects that the network or internet will affect the VoIP call quality, Users will get a pop-up that will provide the option to Switch to RingOut, or Continue with VoIP. For more information about RingOut, go to Enabling RingOut on your RingCentral Mobile App.
