Business SMS / MMS allows you to message your colleagues from the RingCentral Phone for Mobile. This article shows you how you can send messages on your RingCentral Phone for Mobile.

• Send unlimited text messages.
• Use one business number for voice, fax and text messages.
• Send to any number and extension with up to 1,000 characters using the RingCentral Phone for Mobile.
• Message colleagues, clients, and department groups. Recipients can reply via Business SMS or their native SMS.
• Forward a message from a conversation to colleagues, clients, and department groups. 

IMPORTANT: If you are currently transferring an existing number to RingCentral, your SMS service may be interrupted for 72 hours on completion of the number transfer request.


You can send messages using any of the following methods:

Using the Messaging icon
Using Contacts 
Forwarding messages
Using the RingCentral Phone for Mobile icon from your home screen *

* supported by the following iOS versions:

• iPhone 6s and 6s Plus
• iPhone 7 and 7 Plus
• iPhone 8 and 8 Plus
• iPhone X

NOTE: The images below may appear slightly different from the actual RingCentral Phone for Mobile screen on your iOS or Android device, but the buttons/icons are just the same.
 

Using the Messaging icon


Step 1:

Launch and log in to your RingCentral Phone for Mobile.

Step 2:

Tap the Messages icon.

Step 3:

Tap the Compose icon, and then tap New Text.

Step 4:

Type the recipient/s' number in the To field or tap the Add buttonAdd Contact icon to select a recipient from your Contacts list. You can add multiple recipients to your text messages. You can also send a text message to a Call Queue so that the members of that Call Queue would be the recipients of your text message.

Step 5:

Type your message. Tap the Send icon.

QUICK TIP: If you would like to send an MMS, tap the User-added image  icon, then tap Send.

Using Contacts


Step 1:

Launch and log in to your RingCentral Phone for Mobile.

Step 2:

Tap the Contacts icon, and then tap on a recipient's name.

QUICK TIP: All Contacts stored on your phone and your RingCentral Online account will be displayed by default. The Contacts list can be filtered to show only your Company Directory or Personal Contacts.

Step 3:

Tap the Messaging icon.

Step 4:

Type your message. Tap the Send icon.

QUICK TIP: If you would like to send an MMS, tap the User-added image icon and then tap Send.

Forwarding messages


Step 1:

Launch and log in to your RingCentral Phone for Mobile.

Step 2:

Tap the Messages icon.

Step 3:

Tap All Messages to filter the type of message that you want to view, and then tap Text to view Text conversations only.

Step 4:

Tap the text conversation that you want to view.

Step 5:

Tap the Trash Bin button.

Step 6: 

Select the message that you want to forward by tapping on the radio button next to it. When the message has been selected, you should see a Blue check mark next to the message.

QUICK TIP: For Android, you can also tap and Hold the message that you want to forward, and then tap Forward.

Step 7: 

Type the recipient/s' number in the To field or tap the Add buttonAdd Contact icon to select a recipient from your Contacts list. You can add multiple recipients to your text messages. You can also send a text message to a Call Queue so that the members of that Call Queue would be the recipients of your text message.

You can edit the text message before you tap on the Send button.

The 3D Touch Support feature enables iPhone Users* to quickly access commonly used actions. To send a message using the 3D Touch feature, do a strong tap on the RingCentral Phone for Mobile icon, and tap on New Text.
