Using the SMS / MMS feature of the RingCentral for Desktop

SummaryHow do I use the SMS or MMS feature on my RingCentral for Deskstop?
RingCentral Business SMS / MMS feature enables you to send and receive text messages using your RingCentral for Desktop app.  This will be synchronized with your RingCentral Mobile App on your mobile devices as well.

You can enjoy the following benefits with this feature:

Send unlimited text messages
Use one business number for voice, fax and text messages
Send to any number and extension with up to 1,000 characters using the RingCentral Mobile App.
Message colleagues, clients and department groups.  Recipients can reply via Business SMS or their native SMS
 Send MMS. Preview MMS within the message thread, view or play media in-app or in third-party apps.

The following file types are supported for sending and receiving MMS:

• Images:
 jpg/jpeg, png, gif, bmp, tif/tiff, svg
• Videos: 3gp, mp4, mpeg, flv, wmv, mov
• Audio: mp3
• Files: vcf/vcard, zip, rtf, html, txt

• Images:

• Videos: 3gp, mp4, mpeg, flv, wmv, mov
• Audio: mp3
• Files: vcf/vcard, zip, rtf, html

Users cannot send a caption with the image as one message.

Follow the steps below to use the SMS / MMS feature.

Step 1:

Log in to your RingCentral for Desktop.

NOTE:  Make sure you enter the correct extension number.

Step 2:

Click Desktop App - Compose Text icon Compose Text .

Step 3:

On the New Message screen, provide your recipient in the To: field by providing the number or selecting a contact by clicking the User-added image icon.  Type your message in the text box.

To include emojis on your message, click the User-added image icon.

To send an MMS, click the User-added image icon.

Step 4:

Click Send to send your message.
