Mac Users who do not have rights to install applications on their Mac computer may encounter issues after installing the updated version of RingCentral Meetings.
Who are affected:
1. Existing RingCentral Meetings Users
2. New Users (Participants) who receive a RingCentral Meetings invitation and requires to download the program in able to join.
There are two possible scenarios that might occur:
When there is a new version available, an existing Mac User will receive an in-product notification to update. If a User selects to upgrade, the new version will be installed in the hidden folder (<<User>>\Library\Application Support\RingCentral Meetings) due to lack of Admin rights. Every time the User launches RingCentral Meetings from their dock or applications list, the system will still launch the older version of RingCentral Meetings and will continue to receive in-place upgrade notifications.
A User downloads RingCentral Meetings in order to join a meeting from an invitation. RingCentral Meetings will be installed in the hidden folder (<<User>>\Library\Application Support\RingCentral Meetings)
due to lack of Admin rights. The User is able to join the meeting. However, the User will not be able to find the RingCentral Meetings application later if the User wants to launch RingCentral Meetings again.
To solve the issue, Users should have their IT or computer Administrator remove the existing RingCentral Meetings program from the dock and applications list, then move the new RingCentral Meetings installation file from the hidden folder to the Applications List
(Every time there is a new version).
