Allowing Microphone Access for RingCentral for Google or Office 365

When making an outbound call from the RingCentral for Google app or RingCentral for Office 365, you may see an error message that says, "SIP Error: WebRTC Error".

This may be caused by Google Chrome blocking RingCentral Integration apps access to the microphone. You will need to unblock this microphone access.

For first-time users, RingCentral for Google or RingCentral for Office 356 will prompt for microphone access when you try to make an outgoing call. Click Allow when this happens.

If you have blocked microphone access for the RingCentral Integrations apps, you can do the following steps to unblock it:

Step 1:

Open your Gmail, Google Calendar or Outlook.

Step 2:

If the RingCentral for Google or RingCentral for Office 365 is blocked, you will see an icon on the Address Bar indicating that the page has been blocked from accessing your microphone. Click on this icon to configure the access settings.

Step 3:

Click on Always allow, and then click Done

NOTE: To make sure that you are allowing access to the correct app, you can get RingCentral for Google's Extension ID. To do this, go to Finding a Google Extension's ID Number.

Alternatively, if you are unable to see the icon indicator on the Address bar, you can manually delete the app and allow it to give you a prompt. to do this, follow the steps below:

Click on the Chrome Menu button, and then select Settings.

Scroll down, and then click on Show advanced settings...

Under Privacy, click on Content settings...

Scroll down and look for Microphone. Under Microphone, click on Manage Exceptions

Step 5: 

Look for the RingCentral app's Google Extension ID. If its blocked, click on the X mark to remove it from the list, and then click Done

Step 6: 

When you attempt to re-dial using the RingCentral for Google app or RingCentral for Office 365 app, you should get the pop-up where you can allow the microphone access. 
Click Allow

Finding a Google Extension's ID Number

Step 1: 

Click on the Chrome Menu button, and then select Settings.

Click Extensions at the top-left corner of the menu, and then click Developer mode, located at the top-right corner of the menu.

Step 3: 

The RingCentral app's Extension ID should appear under the Details
