Difference between Call Switch and Call Flip


Call Switch enables switching ongoing calls between RingCentral apps exclusively. Call Flip enables a user to flip an ongoing call between any devices connected to a digital line, including home phones, desk phones, and smartphones that are not equipped with the RingCentral apps for desktop and mobile.
 

Call Switch use case scenario:


User is finishing up an urgent phone call taken on the RingCentral Desktop app but has to head to a meeting. She initiates Call Switch from her mobile device without missing a beat in the ongoing conversation. Any screen of an active RC Office desktop or mobile app prompts a 2-click process that enables instant call handover. A user does not have to wait for the incoming call on their receiving device in order to pick up; they can engage the receiving endpoint with 2 clicks while still on their call and immediately pick up the conversation.

Call Flip use case scenario:


On her way out of the office, User initiates a call flip from her desk phone, waits to receive the incoming call on her mobile phone, and picks up the mobile call to continue her ongoing conversation. When she finishes her commute and gets home, she flips the mobile call to her home phone. Call Flip allows users to flip an ongoing call between any devices connected to a digital line, including home phones, desk phones, and smartphones that are not equipped with the RingCentral Office app. Feature functionality requires user to initiate the call flip from one device to another and wait for the incoming call on the receiving device in order to pick up and continue the call.
