1. What are desk phones?

Desk phones are VoIP (Voice over IP) phones where telephone calls are made over the Internet instead of a traditional telephone network. IP phones can also be a simple software-based softphone such as the RingCentral Phone or a purpose-built hardware device. 
 

2. What are the tested desk phones with the RingCentral service?

Go to List of Tested Phones with RingCentral for more information. 
 

3. How do I plug in and set up my desk phone?

To connect your desk phone, plug in an Ethernet cable into the LAN port of your Polycom IP phone and SW port for Cisco phones. Phones purchased from RingCentral should be plug-and-play, which means that the phone will be provisioned automatically once it connects to the internet. 4. How do I transfer a call?

To transfer a call, press the following on your phone:

(#) + (#) + Extension number + (#)
or
# + # + Phone number (of the person you are trying to call)

5. How do I make a 3-way call?

Depending on your device, there is a specific button on your desk phone to make a 3-way call. Press the Conference button and dial the extension number of the conference call participant.

NOTE: Three-way calls through desk phones are limited up to three (3) callers.
 

6. How do I put a caller on hold?

Depending on your device, there is a specific button on your desk phone to put a caller on hold. Press the Hold button to put the caller on hold.
 

7.  What is a Static IP address?

Static IP address is a network address that is manually configured to a network device such as IP phones, computers, and tablets.
 

8. Can I lease or rent desk phones from RingCentral?
