SummaryCisco SPA525g or SPA525g2 phones allow you to connect to a Wi-Fi network manually. You can connect using the Wireless Profile or connect using the Wi-Fi Protected Setup.

Connecting Cisco SPA525g or SPA525g2 to Wi-Fi Network

The Cisco SPA525g and the Cisco SPA525g2 desk phones are 5-line IP Phones with color display and wireless capability, manufactured by Cisco Systems.

NOTE: Before setting up the Cisco SPA525g network, make sure you have the following details for the network you will connect to.

•  Wireless Network Name/SSID
•  Security Mode
•  Security Type
•  Wireless Password 
•  Cipher Type  


There are 2 ways of enabling the wireless connection on Cisco SPA525g or SPA525g2. Click on links below to learn more.

• Connect Using the Wireless Profile

- Scan for available wireless networks
- Manually add a network

• Connect Using the Wi-Fi Protected Setup

- Push Button Configuration
- PIN Configuration


Enabling Wireless Connection - Cisco SPA525g or SPA525g2

IMPORTANT: Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the Cisco phone to activate the Wireless feature. When the Ethernet cable is connected to the phone, the phone's Wi-Fi connection is disabled.


1. Power ON the phone using the power adapter that came with the device.


2. Press the Setup button on your Cisco phone.

3. Go to Network Configuration, then press the Select key.

4. Go to Wi-Fi, then press the phone's Right Arrow key to toggle Wi-Fi ON, then press Set.

5. Go to Wi-Fi Configuration and press the Right arrow key.

You have 2 options to connect your phone to the Wi-Fi network: 

Wireless Profile - Use this option to add a new or edit an existing wireless profile. 

Wi-Fi Protected Setup - Use this option if your wireless router supports Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS).


Connect Using the Wireless Profile

Go to Wireless Profile, then press Select.

The current Wi-Fi profiles will be displayed. At this point, you can either:

Scan for available wireless networks
Manually add a network


Scan for Available Wireless Networks


1. Press Scan

2. Highlight the network that you wish to connect to, and then press Add.

3. Enter the required setting to connect your network, and then press Save.

• Security Mode and Cipher Type - This is the wireless network's password (case sensitive)
• Profile Name - Enter a descriptive name for the wireless profile

Manually Add a Network


1. Press Option.

2. Select Add New, then press Select

3. Enter the required setting to connect your network, then press Save.

• Security Mode and Cipher Type - This is the wireless network's password. (case sensitive)
• Profile Name - Enter a descriptive name for the wireless profile
• SSID - This is the wireless network's name.

4. Press Connect.

Connect Using the Wi-Fi Protected Setup

If your router has a WPS button, you can use Wi-Fi Protected Setup to add a new wireless network profile.


1. Under Wireless Configuration, select Wi-Fi Protected Setup.

You can configure the configuration using any of the 2 options: 

Push Button Configuration
PIN Configuration

1. Press the WPS button on your router.


2. On your phone, highlight Push Button Configuration, and then press Select.

3. Press Select.

PIN Configuration


1. On your phone, highlight PIN Configuration, then press Select.

2. The PIN will be displayed on your phone. Note the PIN displayed.

3. Connect to your router interface by using a computer.


4. Go to the router's Wireless Protected Setup configuration menu, and then enter the PIN into the field that allows you to setup wireless devices by using a PIN.


5. Click Save.


6. On your phone, with PIN Configuration highlighted, press Select.

NOTE: To add the connection as a Wireless Profile, press OK
