Changing or Resetting a User's Password, Pin or Security Question

Details
Passwords and Security Questions on your online account maintain your account's confidentiality and privacy. This article demonstrates how you can change your security settings or another User's security settings.

Administrators 

• If you are ABLE TO LOG IN to your account and you want to CHANGE YOUR Password, PIN or Security Question
Changing your Extension's Password, PIN or Security Question and Answer 

• If you are ABLE TO LOG IN to your account and you want to CHANGE ANOTHER USER's Password, PIN or Security Question
Changing another User's Password, PIN or Security Question and Answer 

• If you are UNABLE TO LOG IN due to a forgotten password. 
Resetting your Password if you can no longer log in 

Users with no Administrator access

• If you are ABLE TO LOG IN to your account and you want to CHANGE YOUR Password, PIN or Security Question
Changing your Extension's Password, PIN or Security Question and Answer 

• If you are UNABLE TO LOG IN due to a forgotten password. 
Resetting your Password if you can no longer log in

NOTE: You need to have Administrator access to change the Password, PIN or Security Question of another User in your RingCentral account. 

Step 1:

On the Admin Portal page, click Users. When you click Users, the User List will automatically load.
On the User list, under Users With Extensions, click the name of the User that you want to view.

The User Details section will load. 
Under User Details, click User Password.

Changing the Password

Enter your Admin Password, and then enter the New Password that your want to assign to the User. Click Save.

NOTE: The new Password needs to follow the Password Criteria. This criteria makes the User's Password secure and less vulnerable to unauthorized access. The Password must meet the following criteria:
 
• One (1) letter
• One (1) number
• One (1) special character (!, @, #, $, %, ^, &, * , .) or One (1) uppercase letter
• At least eight (8) characters with a maximum of 32 characters.
• No repeating or sequential characters/numbers
 

Changing the PIN

The PIN is used to verify the User's identity when checking their voicemail from a phone or in the automated attendant when contacting Customer Care. The new PIN must meet the following criteria:
 
• At least 6 numbers
• Maximum of 10 numbers
• Numbers only
• Non-sequential and Non-repeating
 
To change a User's PIN, enter your Admin Password, and then enter the New PIN that you want to assign to the User. Click Save.

Changing the Security Question and Answer

Enter your Admin Password, and then click on the drop-down list to select the Security Question and fill in the Answer field.

Step 5:

The page will redirect to the User Details screen. Click Save.
 

Changing your Extension's Password, PIN or Security Question and Answer

Step 1:

Non-Admin Users: Click Settings.

Administrators: From the Admin Portal view, switch to My Extension view, and then click Settings.

The User Details section will load. 
Under User Details, click User Password.

Under User Details, you can do the following:

Change your Password
Change your PIN
Change your Security Question and Answer
 

Changing the Password

Enter your Current Password, and then enter your New Password. Click Save.

Changing the Security Question and Answer

Enter your Current Password, and then click on the drop-down list to select the Security Question and fill in the Answer field.

Step 5:

The page will redirect to the User Details screen. Click Save.
 

Resetting your Password if you can no longer log in

If the password that you used to log in is incorrect, you will get a message that says "Phone number and password do not match. Please try again.
If you are unable to remember your password, follow the steps below: 

Step 1:

Click the Forgot your Password? link.

Fill out the required fields and click Next.

Enter the answer to your Security Question and then, click Submit.

NOTE: If you are a non-Admin User and unable to remember the answer to your Security Question, contact your RingCentral Account Administrator to reset your password or change your extension's Security Question and Answer. You can update your Security Question and Answer once you are logged into your account. 

If you are a RingCentral Account Administrator and you are unable to remember the answer to your RingCentral account's Security Question, Call RingCentral Customer Support for Account Verification Procedures. Once your account is verified, RingCentral Support will reset your password, which you can update or change when you are logged in.

Step 4: 

If you are able to provide the correct answer to your Security Question, an email will be sent to the Email Address set on your extension.

Step 5: 

Access your email account, and open the RingCentral notification email (from: service@ringcentral.com) in your Inbox. Click the link on the email to reset your password.

NOTE: If you are unable to find the email in your inbox, look for it in the Spam folder.

Step 6:

You will be redirected to the RingCentral page where you can reset your password. Enter your New Password, and then Retype it on the Confirm Password box. Click Save.
NOTE: Your new alphanumeric password must comply with RingCentral's Password Criteria: 
• One (1) letter
• One (1) number
• One (1) special character (!, @, #, $, %, ^, &, * , .) or One (1) uppercase letter
• At least eight (8) characters with a maximum of 32 characters.
• No repeating or sequential characters/numbers

NOTE: After you click Save, RingCentral will automatically log you in and redirect your screen to your RingCentral account.
